My Shadow

Oil on canvas  60cm x 75cm   SOLD

My Shadow

I thought it was Them who were the enemy,

They, Those other ones.

Out there, somewhere.

Dangerous and frightening.

Not me.

I am the good one.

But I have tracked you down

You, who have haunted my steps,

Hiding, when I turn to grasp you.

I have caught you, my enemy.

You who have hindered and fought against

My highest desires

His light has illumined my darkness,

And I see you.

My slinking sin,

My rebellious rage,

My powerful passivity.

I know you now.
